Medical Devices & MedTech
Recruiting extensively for medical device & MedTech engineering, quality assurance and regulatory affairs roles since opening in 2016, we have successfully recruited high caliber engineering and technical talent across a variety of technologies including IVD, medical imaging, surgical devices, and AI/ML-led technologies.
Space, Robotics, AgTech and other emerging technologies
Our opportunity to expand into other emerging sectors came in 2021 when an executive level contact we knew from the medical device industry asked us to conduct a search in a market segment that was new to us. We have since filled senior level technical roles for companies developing solar simulation technology, amphibious robots, and space telescopes, all based on recommendations and referrals from our previous work.
While we do not yet have extensive experience in these industries, we have been successful in finding the right talent for niche technical roles in each new industry we have entered so far and are excited to continue expanding into these fields.
Executive Recruitment Services
In addition to the challenges of finding someone with very niche technical skills and expertise, in small industries and particularly at management to executive level there are often only one or two degrees of separation between employer and the most qualified candidates.
Due to this, people who might be interested are often concerned their employer could become aware through the grapevine if they consider another opportunity. They are unlikely to apply to a job posting and may be reticent to engage if the company approaches them directly.
At senior management and executive levels people are often more open to considering a new position if they can do so anonymously to start. Through a Recruiter they can learn about the role and company discreetly before deciding if they want to move forward. It gives potential candidates the opportunity to ask specific questions about the position that wouldn’t be on a job description but are often critical to determining interest, or that would be uncomfortable to ask an employer directly at an early stage. Our executive candidates have also commented that being represented by us gives them an additional layer of comfort by minimizing the number of people who will be in the know that they are considering an opportunity because we typically work directly with the executive who is hiring.
Similarly, in our searches we often reach out to executive level technical experts in the field to ask for advice or a recommendation. It is not uncommon that our client had previously reached out to that person directly, but the expert suggests someone for us to reach out to that they hadn’t to the company directly. Although we don’t pry our contacts for the reason, we think it is likely that the layer of separation and discretion makes them more comfortable to share this information.

Our Search Process (How we find Hidden Talent)
If you looked at other recruitment agency websites you may have noticed that ours has one significant difference from most; there is no section on the main page (or anywhere) to send in your resume, apply for a job, or search through our active engineering positions. That’s intentional. We are not your typical engineering staffing agency.
Most recruitment agencies focus on finding people who are actively looking for a job or exist in their candidate database to find those who most closely fit the job specs. They may do some active sourcing but because of the focus on production quantities they rarely have the time (or training) to do a deep dive. While this can be an effective strategy for roles where there is a large pool of potentially qualified candidates it doesn’t work for roles where there are very few people with the desired skill set.
Rather than trying to best fit the candidates we have or can easily find via job postings etc. (square peg round hole), we actively research the companies and people who have or are creating relevant technologies, then individually research and reach out to those people who have the qualifications you are looking for regardless of whether they are looking or not (mostly not). We don’t look for the easy to find candidates, we search for the best potential candidates and connectors and work from there. Quality over quantity.
While we have an arsenal of cool tools and an extensive network of industry-relevant contacts across engineering disciplines, each search is unique and what works for one role or industry or skill may not be as effective in another. There is a typical order of events and search tools that we utilize but we don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all process and have built a reputation for thorough and creative research to find top talent.
Although we love technology for helping us search, when it comes to contact every touch is personalized. We never send blast emails or send generic messages. We research each potential candidate before we reach out to them to assess key qualifications and to glean any information about what might catch their interest about the opportunity when we reach out.
